uh... lucky shot?

I always have had people commenting on my photos and sometimes, one or 2 Mr Know-It-All would tagged-along chipping in their [really] 2 cents worth of opinions. Their usual shoot-off-the-mouth slogans, "It must be your lucky day!" or "This is a lucky shot..."
But Hey Bozo! What’s a lucky shot??? Is it when I couldn’t explain how a portrait was made or the EV settings chose? Or is it I tripped the shutter countless times in hoping to get a good photo?
Of course there’s nothing wrong being a lucky photographer but I do have issue with photographers relying on luck! Well you see, when we look back, we can see we have learned many things from lucky shooting days. We learned about proper composition via post processing image-cropping. We also learned about self restraint and, most importantly, we learned how to stop shooting for luck and how to start taking ‘lucky’ pictures on purpose; in other words, it’s about deliberately, continually want to deliver lucky shots.
And because we’re so good at it now, we no longer call it lucky shots, it’s called Magical shots. The army phrase; ‘One shot one kill’ applies here rather than the age old ‘Shoot to kill, take no prisoners!’
Is this a lucky shot? Hmm…Maybe but can I repeat this shot over and again? Yes I can! This ain’t no lucky shot, this is Pro at Work! Consistently, day in and out, knowing what I can deliver.
Ahem! I’m not blowing my own trumpet here but it’s been a long ride for me to get to where I am now and I recognize that I still have got some distance more to cover, but one can never get to a point whereby you know 100% of everything there is to know about photography and Don’t! Don’t ever tell me that my picture is a lucky shot just because I can think and work and deliver fast. If this is lucky, then it’s because it is Opportunity that meets Skill…
